BILL HUGHES (6/4/09):
"Bob,

Good to hear you are back singing!! I remember those times well at the adult conventions. Your talent for outshown those three characters trying to do the blues brothers (I think that was it was!!!). You are in our thoughts and prayers everyday.
Hang in there buddy. One day at a time.

Your Friend, Bill"
NOEL CLAYTON (6/3/09):
"I am sorry to hear about your uncle. I will pray for his recovery.
My 6 year old daughter has WS."
JANE GAIR PRAIRIE (6/2/09):
"What a beautiful story you have written for us. Is Cookie Jenny? Thank you so much for sharing with us so we can be a part of the healing journey Bob is on. I laughed with the 'Both Sides Now' part, and shared this with Keith who enjoyed it too. I marveled at the piano playing, as I imagined myself there sitting with you all and singing along. And I cried at the kiss at the end with the love and the hopes. I love you Bobby. - Jane"
AMY KOCH (6/2/09):
"Happy Belated Birthday My Friend!
Wow! I am so impressed with you and I am very proud of you. You are fighting the hard fight and you are doing great!

I am especially impressed about you entertaining yourself on the piano. That must have made you very happy.

Wow talk about Clarence Clemmons! That had to be the best Birthday gift anyone could ever have!

Robert, keep on fighting the fight. We really need you back with us because all of us miss you in the 'Dream Team'

Love,
Amy"
PETER GAIR (6/2/09):
"More music and sharing more music with others sounds like the ticket.

Sounds great!

PETER GAIR (6/2/09):
"Great to hear you're back at the keyboard and singing away. Some songs are the blues, but singing them isn't.

Lots of love,

Peter"
LOUIS GREENSTEIN (6/2/09):
"Bob, sorry you missed the Springsteen show, but a call from the Big Man???!!! How cool!

Ok, I met you at Miriam's birthday party, and now you know Clarence, so that puts me well within 6 degrees of separation from The Boss!

Hope you're feeling better.

Louis"
SUE VEST (5/31/09):
"I think Ken is the most jealous of your phone call ! WOW - way cool. Happy Birthday to you...

Bob - you were truly missed today at our picnic. Everyone send their good wishes and prayers to you.

Jeremy and I would like to come over to visit, are you up for that now? I'll check in with your folks to see when would be a good time.

We are happy to hear about your progress...keep it up!"
NENE & AMY KOCH (5/30/09):
"Hi Bob,
I just want to add how happy we are over your progress!
Amy is so excited to hear that you are doing well and of course I am also excited. Keep up the good work and we know you will be back in your own surroundings before you realize it. Love to you and your parents.
Nene and Amy"
TERRY MONKABA (5/28/09):
"Happy Birthday Bob!!

You are catching up to me faster than I realized!
It was wonderful to read Susie's detailed note about your move, your birthday and your recovery. You cannot imagine how many of us are craving this news and waiting to read each new post.
The annual Cabin John Picnic will be a little lonely this weekend without you and your parents but Jeremy promised to 'hold court' in your honor. And I expect that he will be jealous to hear about your Birthday call from Clarence! WOW! He must be nearly as cool as you are. And David is amazing to help make it all happen for you.
Ben is working with a music therapist this summer - entertaining at local assisted living and rehab centers. As soon as you are able, we'll come to see you and the 2 of you can give the other residents the concert of their lives!
Keep your spirits up Bob, and know that all of us who love you are sending lots of love, and positive thoughts to you and your family on a daily basis! - And your goal, should you accept it, is to be at the podium in St. Louis, July 2010, telling your story and offering incredible inspiration to everyone at the WSA National Convention.

Love
Terry and Ben"
DEBBY FROM FLORIDA (5/28/09):

"Dear Bob,

Your resilience and courage continue to amaze me. We are thinking of you daily and sending all the positive energy we can muster. I hope you can feel the communal embrace of all who love you, near and far.

I grinned a big grin, too reading about your special phone call. I'm sorry you had to miss the Springsteen concert, but I hope that that personal call from Clarence Clemons was a thrill you'll never forget.

Hang in there. Heal well.

Love,

Judy, Jeff, Leo, Anna and Sam (who is learning to play saxophone)"
JANE GAIR PRAIRIE (5/27/09):
"Hi Bob.

I'd forgotten that you r birthday is so close to mine. I turned 53 on May 25th. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO YOU. Sounds like the phone call from Clarence was amazing! You are so courageous! I wish I lived close by and I could pop in to say hello and give you a hug. I am thinking about you often. Everett is 12 now and enjoys playing the piano also. Maybe one day you both can meet and play some piano together!

Lots of love,

one of your many cousins! - Jane"
ELIZABETH (5/26/09):
"Bob, you can't imagine my surprise to hear the news. I wish it had been good news like Jeremy's good news program. I've been praying and thanking your healing team from afar. The doctors, nurses, and staff from Suburban sound like they were the best! How did you get one of the nurses to dance and clap? Now that's charm.

I remember strolling w/ you down the streets of Richmond and having the best lunch ever during a WS Conference. I know there are other streets to stroll and other lunches to lunch, and soda, yes soda.

And Happy after Birthday! I thought you were a June baby, now I know you're a May birthday. I'll let my sister Barbara know about your accident and she will pray like crazy for you. You can't ask for a better prayer warrior than Barbara. You'll have your entire bed, tent, and room surrounded by angels, singing and dancing.

Hang in there, you're the best touch cookie I know! And once the staff hear you play the piano, you'll have everyone w/in earshot charmed to the max. I love you deeply and wish you a speedy recovery. And think about all the lives you have touched - you are showing them the fact and spirit of Wms Syndrome - what a guy. Stuck in the hospital and showing the entire world what a great spirit you have. Determination and hanging in there. And on those days where you might feel a little discouraged? .

"Bob,

I am so pleased to hear you are getting to enjoy food again! What a trooper you are. I am thinking of you every day, sending love and envisioning continued healing and comfort.

Thanks again Jenny for keeping us all posted. And I echo what Peter says to all of you about taking care of yourselves. Often easier said than done, which is why we all need reminders I guess! Lots of love to you all!

Love, Jane"
PETER GAIR (5/2/09):
"YAY! Robert!

Hello from up New Hampshire way! We send our strongest hopes for your continued recovery and your not returning there.

I'm glad to hear you're eating on your own and hope that the food's good. See if you can get some of your favorites. After all, you're doing a lot of good hard work getting better.

Barbara and Walter and clan, I'm sure this is very hard on you all - I can't quite imagine. On a couple of occasions I've felt my family has had a more difficult emotional role than the one I had in the hospital. Recovering takes all of one's own focus and energy, but those who watch and care have now many more and new areas forcing themselves to the fore and all at once! Take care of yourselves also. Robert will need you and you will need each other, too. He's lucky to have you all.

Love,

Peter"
LOUIS GREENSTEIN (4/30/09):

I find moving so disorienting, I hope you are making little nesting places in your new rooms, and enjoying the comfort of being closer to Susie and Jenny and all.
Love and hugs to you all.

Jane"
DEBRA LEIGH SCOTT (4/27/09):

"Doug's right. I note that cantankerousness is a welcome state for people in hospital beds. Give 'em hell, Bob. I'll keep checking in. Hopefully more good signs this week.

- Louis (also a friend of Miriam's - or 'FOM')"
DOUG GORDON (4/23/09):
"It has to be frightening to become fully awake and aware of a tube down your throat. When my wife, Peggy, awoke from heart surgery, she was doing fine but she panicked at the respirator, and it was the same kind of Catch-22 situation. Bob will get past this as Peggy did. It's great that he's increasingly conscious and cantankerous - thumbs up indeed.
-Doug (friend of Miriam's)"
SARAH EVANS (4/23/09):
"The contrast between the life-reinforcing support and love, and the stress and pain is what stands out for me. Jack and I send our deepest love, truly from the depths of our hearts, to Bob and to each of you, and enormous gratitude to Bob's skilled and devoted caregivers. We are glad he is in such a fine trauma center, and will be checking each day.
Hugs to you all, and most of all to Walter and Barbara. S and J"
NANCY GAIR (4/22/09):
"Auntie Barbara and Uncle Walter -
I didn't know you were packing up and moving with such swiftness. What a week for you. I will send you some nice English tea when we get back - the cure-all for everything over here, any shock or upset, or even good excitement!, is received and ameliorated with a good cup of hot tea. Usually laced with milk and sugar, though I'm partial to drinking it unadulterated.

Lots of love and hugs from all os us. I still bask in the great feeling the boys and I had from our wonderful visit to all of you at New Years.
xx nancy"
NANCY GAIR (4/22/09):
"I replied on the other page before I'd read these details. Jenny, thanks so much for putting this site together and keeping us all updated. Bob, how scary. The boys and I hope you are looking after yourself and letting yourself be looked after!

Love,

Peter and Wendy and Nora in New Hampshire

And Barbara and Uncle Walter,

We send our songs and our love to you, too, and hope you can find some times, however brief, to rest.

JANE GAIR PRAIRIE (4/21/09):
"Hello Bob! What a shock to hear of your accident. I am sending lots of love and wishes for comfort through your healing time. Imagine I am there visiting with you, listening to music with you. I'll be thinking of you often.

Lots of love, your cousin, Jane"
DONALD AND JOYCE (4/21/09):
"Bravo El Dobbo!
What a wonderful title brother George has given you. It fits the picture we are all hearing described of you as though mounted on your prancing steed, lance in hand, charging at the present obstacles and pushing them back, on to victory!
Love love love,
from Aunt Joyce and Uncle Donald"
LOUIS GREENSTEIN (4/21/09):
"Message for Bob -

Hi, Bob! I'm a friend of Miriam's. You and I met at her birthday party several years ago. I had a lot of fun at that party - dancing and eating, mostly. And I recall you did too!

I was sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you make a full recovery in record time. It's good to know that you have family and friends - and a wonderful staff at the hospital. You're in good hands, alright.

I'll keep checking this web site to keep up with your progress.

All the best,
Louis"

"Jenny,

Thanks for setting this up for all of us, including Bob, and for everything else you have done to help out during this crisis."

"Am stunned by the news. What terrible news - and how awful for him and all of us. I am shocked and saddened - but I know he's strong and will be fine. Please give my best to Barbara and Walter - and of course to all. Please keep me posted. I know he'll be all right, but this is a painful time. - Love, Joanne"
